Dr. Janet M. Lee
Veterinarian

Growing up in sunny Jamaica, Dr. Janet Lee spent years accompanying her father to Caymanas Park, where he trained race horses. Dr. Lee would assist with the animals’ veterinary needs in whatever way she could. When her family migrated to southern Florida, she continued working with horses at a large equine veterinary practice and at the local race course. Despite Dr. Lee’s long, grueling hours, she came to realize something: working in veterinary medicine was her true calling!

Dr. Lee attended the University of Florida to obtain her undergraduate degree in microbiology and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She worked in the University’s College of Veterinary Medicine throughout her studies, then took a job in a Lake City, Florida mixed-animal practice after graduation. After three and a half years, she moved to Jacksonville and began doing veterinary relief work, but soon realized that relief work lacked what she enjoyed most about her profession: having a special place in her clients’ lives as the trusted healthcare provider for their treasured companions.

Dr. Lee then secured a managing position at another local animal hospital, allowing her to get back to her roots as a family-oriented practitioner. Two years later, she purchased the practice. In 2006, she moved to her present location here at Dames Point Animal Hospital. Dr. Lee has professional interests in geriatric medicine and dermatology, but most of all, she enjoys forming personal relationships with her clients and their pets. In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Lee enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her two daughters and their cats, Shadow and Stitch. She also enjoys working out at the gym, reading, horse back riding, and being outdoors.

Carolyn
Office Manager

When she was a young girl, Carolyn’s parents promised her that she could have a cat one day. When that joyous day finally arrived, Carolyn held the little creature in her arms and promised to always take care of him. In that moment, she knew that she wanted to work with animals for the rest of her life!

Carolyn’s veterinary career started from the ground up. She began as a kennel technician and has worked in all areas of the veterinary profession since then. In 2000, she began working with Dr. Lee, remaining with her for 10 years before Dames Point Animal Hospital opened its doors for business. Carolyn was instrumental in getting the hospital off the ground, and now serves as the clinic’s Office Manager. Nothing makes her happier than chatting with clients—many of whom are neighbors and personal friends—about their beloved four-legged companions.

Carolyn and her family enjoy spending time at the beach, fishing, and hiking in the mountains of Tennessee. They also love relaxing with their three rescued cats: Cash, Knox, and Katniss.

Stephanie
Veterinary Technician

For as long as she can remember, Stephanie’s dream has been to work with animals. She can even recall playing “veterinarian” with her stuffed animals as a little girl! As she grew older, her interest didn’t waver. Now, Stephanie gets to care for pets daily as one of Dames Point Animal Hospital’s Veterinary Technicians!

Stephanie grew up in Connecticut with her parents and younger brother. It was there that her veterinary career began; she served as a kennel attendant before moving to Texas to begin working as a Veterinary Assistant. After receiving her Veterinary Technician training, she did relief work in an emergency hospital, helped manage another small practice as Head Technician and worked in a large corporate hospital in North Carolina. Upon moving south to the Jacksonville area in 2014, she started seeking a high-quality clinic with a small-town feel. Dames Point Animal Hospital was the perfect fit!

Medically, Stephanie loves diagnostic work, nutritional counselling and dental cleanings; polishing pets’ teeth and seeing the world of difference it makes is incredibly rewarding for her. She’s also fond of getting to know clients and pets personally in order to best serve their needs.

Stephanie has a young son who takes after his mother’s love of animals. Outside of work, she is a passionate artist and jewelry designer. She and her son love spending time outdoors exploring, fishing and taking advantage of the sunny weather on the beach.
