Dr. Janet M. Lee
Veterinarian

Growing up in sunny Jamaica, Dr. Janet Lee spent years accompanying her father to Caymanas Park, where he trained race horses. Dr. Lee would assist with the animals’ veterinary needs in whatever way she could. When her family migrated to southern Florida, she continued working with horses at a large equine veterinary practice and at the local race course. Despite Dr. Lee’s long, grueling hours, she came to realize something: working in veterinary medicine was her true calling!

Dr. Lee attended the University of Florida to obtain her undergraduate degree in microbiology and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She worked in the University’s College of Veterinary Medicine throughout her studies, then took a job in a Lake City, Florida mixed-animal practice after graduation. After three and a half years, she moved to Jacksonville and began doing veterinary relief work, but soon realized that relief work lacked what she enjoyed most about her profession: having a special place in her clients’ lives as the trusted healthcare provider for their treasured companions.

Dr. Lee then secured a managing position at another local animal hospital, allowing her to get back to her roots as a family-oriented practitioner. Two years later, she purchased the practice. In 2006, she moved to her present location here at Dames Point Animal Hospital. Dr. Lee has professional interests in geriatric medicine and dermatology, but most of all, she enjoys forming personal relationships with her clients and their pets. In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Lee enjoys yoga, traveling and spending time with her two daughters.

Eleece
Office Manager

Growing up with her parents, older sister, and her family’s dog Hunter, Eleece dreamed of having her own dog to care for. At a softball game in ninth grade, she asked her father, “Will you buy me a dog if I hit a home run?”. He agreed, and later that day Eleece was the proud owner of Bear, an adorable albino lab. Bear had a number of medical issues including allergies, prompting Eleece to take her to a dermatologist. She began helping at the clinic and immediately fell in love with veterinary medicine.

After high school, Eleece studied kinesiology in college before her interest turned to massage therapy. She became nationally certified as a massage therapist and practiced for a few years but missed working with animals. Eventually, when she moved to Florida in 2005, she started working at a veterinary specialty practice and has been working in the field ever since. Here at Dames Point, Eleece is a veterinary technician, providing excellent nursing care for all our patients.

Eleece loves getting to know our clients and their pets and has a special interest in geriatric and specialty cases. She enjoys taking on challenging cases that need special attention and dedication to help them thrive.

Lindsey
Kennel Technician

Lindsey was born in Oklahoma and moved to Jacksonville with her family when she was 15. At 22, she saw a help wanted sign at a local animal hospital and the rest was history.

Lindsey has been taking care of boarding and daycare pets as a Kennel Technician with Dames Point for close to two years. In addition to having a keen eye for animal behaviors and plenty of experience with different breeds, she has a unique connection with all of the animals and a true passion for her job.

In her free time, Lindsey loves going to the beach and to music festivals with her three daughters Ramsey, Kaitlyn, and Lily. At home, they have two cats named Bree and Dj and a dog named Zeke. Her daughters also adore animals and have followed their mom’s footsteps by choosing to work in the field.

Alexis

Alexis was born in Jacksonville and moved to Colorado at the age of three, but moved back to Florida in 2009 to be closer to family. As a child, Alexis looked up to her family veterinarian and dreamed of working with animals like him. For her thirteenth birthday, she even asked for donations for her local animal shelter instead of gifts!

Alexis has been hardworking and independent from a young age, getting her first job at sixteen and moving out to be on her own at eighteen. During her senior year of high school, Alexis began working as a kennel technician and realized that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She began learning as much as she could and quickly transitioned to being a veterinary technician. When she happened to bring her kitten into Dames Point, she shared her story and soon joined the team. She loves working with the rest of the staff and clients to provide the best care for our patients.

Alexis lives with her partner Donovan and her kitten Luna. She often goes home for lunch to spend extra time with Luna, who likes to climb on Alexis’s shoulders and do other tricks. In her free time, Alexis loves to paint, play board games, and spend time with her family and pets.
